Tom McCoy Attends Mother's Funeral.
Today’s Indianapolis Star, Thomas J. McCoy, the ex banker of Rensselaer, who is serving a term of from one to three years in the Indiana State Prison at Michigan City for bank wrecking, was released from the penitentiary yesterday afternoon for a period five days in order that he might attend the funeral of bis mother, Mrs. Alfred McCoy, who di< d of grief because of the imprisoment of her son, on Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mattie A. Rinehart, at Queen City, Mo. The parole was granted by Col. Fred Geminer, private secretary to Governor Hady, acting for the the Governor, who is in lowa. The parole was recommended by Acting Warden Garner of the prison. McCoy left the prison yesterday afternoon, in charge of a prison guard, for Queen City, Mo., and will arrive there today. McCoy has made application to the State Board of Fardons for permanent parole. The first year of bis term expired July 1 last, and his friends are making every effort to have him released. Warden Reid, before his illness, told Governor Hanly that McCoy had been a model prisoner.
