Corner Stone Laying at St. Joseph’s.
The new infirmary building at the College is progressing rapidly. The corner stone was laid last Thursday and the entire basement is now completed. Owing to the rush of work the ceremonies, customary at the layiDg of comer stones were omitted. The stone bears the inscription A. D. 1907 and contains this year’s catalogue, last Collegian, a copy of each of the local papers, a picture of the preeeot staff of the college, a map of the City of Rensselaer, and the following document, referring to the preseut Pope, bishop, President and. The building consists of a well lighted basement 11 feet high, two stories and a spacious attic. The baeement will be used for ordinary, electric, douch or turkish baths. On the first floor there are the dispensary, the infirmarians quarters, rooms lor the consulting physician Dr. I. M. Washburn, 10 small rooms for one patient each and ope large room for convalescents. The second floor contains the Prefect’s rooms for patients and a large room for the less seriously sick. In the attic there are two rooms separate for contagious diseases. The building will be completed at the beginning of the school year.
