THE RAILROAD MEETING

There was a good attendance at the railroad meeting at the court house Tuesday, and an excellent spirit maniteste 1. That our people want the road and are awake to the great advantages it will be to our town and county were also evident. There seems to be a considerable desire however for fuller and more definite information on the plan proposed for our people to aid in its construction, and in answering these and other questions asked, of course there was no one who could quite take President Infield’s place. One matter however is liard to understand, and that is why f-o n any or at least why a considerable number of our citizens should take the view that they would rather make a donation outright than subscribe for stock in the company. The stock is non assessable and can’t even cost the holders anything more than the first price, and it stands a good chanee to always be worth what it now costs and if the experience of other electric roads in the state is any sure guide, it will ultimately be worth much more than it now costs. No attempt was made Tuesday night to take subscriptions but quite a number present expressed their intention to subscribe for greater or less amount.
