A Difficult Operation.
Miss Rebecca Smith whose sickness was mentioned in yesterday’s items, became so much worse Monday night that it was decided to hasteu her to Chicago, and she was taken up on the early train Tuesday morning and the operation per formed at the Mary Thompson Hospital by Dr. Byron Robinson that morning. Owing to her ad vanced age and the seriousness of ner condition the outcome of the case was regarded as extremely doubtful, but she withstood it re markably well and is now getting along even better than had been expected. The bowel obstruction was found to be caused by a twisted intestine, a portion of which was decayed. It was found necessary to removed this and then join the intestine again. It will be several weeks before the patient can be brought home.
