A Monon Train Kills A Wife Deserter.
A man named John Karns, a farm hand was run down by a Monon train some time last Monday night, near St. Johns, having been discovered about seven o’clock next monring with one arm badly mangßvand a severe wound in his head. He was taken to Crown Point for treatment and then sent to the county farm, where his death occured Tuesday night. Before his death he admitted that he had a wife and six children living near Michigan City whom he had deserted 16 years before, and who had heard nothing from him in all that time. They took him back to LaPorte county for burial
