Regulating the Milk Trade.
The new law regulating the size of the wholesale and retail receptacles used in handling milk between producer and consumer went into effect in Pennsylvania, with drastic penalties for violations. Prior to this the Philadelphia Milk Exchange dealers had used a “40-quart can," which really held 46% quarts, In buying from the farmers, and a "quart bottle," 2 ounces abort of the actual quart, la dispensing milk to the public. Glass factories and can makers have been doing a big business in stocking the dealers wife tbo legal receptacles. 4
