Gifford Road Sale Revived.
Negotiations have been revived for the sale of the Gifford Railroad to the Vanderbilt interests, and are likely to come to a head one way or the other, at the annual meeting of the stockholders at Kersey next Thursday, July 25th. The road is already doing a fine freight busi ness, especially in the live stock line, and when it is expended on to better connection north and sonth, is sure to be a valuable property. Mr. Gifford is understood to be anxious to sell because the burden of looking after its many interests is too much tor his physicia’ con dition. Especially lately has been badly afflicted with an abscess on ore of his legs, being a recurrence of a trouble which has been with him more or less for 35 years. This time it was so bad that fears were entertained that amputation would be necessary, but lately he has got much better and is again able to be at his office.
