Newton County Superintendency Still Unsettled.

The county school superintendent trouble in Newton county seems as far from final settlement as ever. Wednesday the five democratic township trustees were the only ones who responded to the call of the couuty auditor for a special meeting, and they declared W. O. Shanlaub elected. He filed his bond and then made a demand on Superintendent Kelleuberger for the office. The latter holds that Mr. Shanlau ) has not received the majority of votes needed to elect, a?id declines to surrender the office, holding that the law allows him to hold the office until his sue cessor is duly elected and qualified. He suggested that the county attorney be consulted and thru him the opinion of the state attorney general be obtained. Whether the matter is to be refered to him for decision was not stated.
