SALOME RASOR WOOD
Salome Rasor Wood was bcrn in Montgomery Co. Ohio., Oct. 12, 1812 and died at Lee Ind., Wed. June 25, 1907 at the advanced age of 94 years, 8 month, and 14 days. Mrs. Wood spent most of her life in her native county in Ohio where she grew to womanhood and Jan. 4, 1829 was united in marriage to John Wood. Fourteen children were born to theim Six daughters and two sons still survive «as follows: Mrs. Sarah A. Wall who reside iu Kansas, Mrs. Jennie Dngan of lowa City, lowa, Miss Mary M. Wood who resided in Lee with her mother, Mrs. Lissa Wood Baton, who resides in Penn., Mrs. Loretta B. Emig, of Columbus, Ind., Mrs. Jus tins Smeeveley of Salt Lake Utah, and the two sons Harvey W. Wood of this county and Eli Wood of Mouon but temporarily absent visiting in Oregon. Her husband died in April 1872 in Montgomery county Ohio and in 1885 she came to Ind.
She leaves a large number of grand children, great grand children and great great grand children. The pall bearers at her funeral were made up from her grand children and her great grand children. In early life Bhe was converted aod united with the Methcdist Episcopal church and continued a most exemplary and loyal Christian woman thruont her long life. Her own father was a minister and there were no less than nine ministers in her husbands family some of whom were widely know in Indiana; among the number was the late Dr. Aaron Wood of the Northwestern Indiana Conference and also the late Dr. Enoch Wood of the Indiana Conference. The funeral occurred at Lee, Eriday June 28, 1907 conducted by Rev. Aaron W. Wood of Delphi, Ind., a relative of her husband's people assisted by the pastor of the church at Lee Rev. R. C. Ballard and the burial occured at Weston cemetery the evening of the same day.
