Rensselaer checker players bad little trouble in putting Lafaye te to rout in a contest held at the Jackson Club in Lafayette Friday night, getting 23 games to their opponents 13 aud drawing 3. Nine players from Rensselaer took part in the contest with a similar number of Lafayette players those from here being, J. A. Me Farland, E. M Thomas. Sam and Tom/Stevens, A. Halleck, G. H. Heahsy wad Frank Hill, with Ells ry B ooro, of Remington, aud John A. Riub, of Chalmers, to fill out ihe team. Thomas, ol Rensselaer, who continues to get • etter with every contest, was the leader ou both teams, winning all five of the games be played, Bloom was second, winning four and drawing one,' while Halleck aud Raub each won 4 and lost 1. McFarland also lost only one but drew one. , The Rensselaer team was much elated over its success, as they met a veiy excellent lot of players, and the victory gives them the undisputed claim to the 19th district championship. Lafayette will probably play here later.
