The Two Cent Rate to be Made General

Passenger rates on all railroads of the United States will be reduced to two cents a mile. The lower* ing of the price and complete abolition of the old three-cenl rates will begin July 1. This was the decision reached in Chicago Saturday after a long and heated discussion by the leading railroad presidents of j ll tht western and transcontinental roads. It was not ft formal agreement, but is equally binding, for two large roads doing a transcontinental business are said to have served an ultimatum to others that they would put the rate into effect immediately.
