The Carpenter Stone Roads Status.

Rdfnirtgton Press* Four weeks have now elapsed siuce Contractor Smith commenced work aud quit ou the Carpentei townsh p stone road, from which it is fair to presume that he does not intend to again begin work until compelled to do so or forfeit his bund. He claims he hold a contract with the Casparis Stone Co. to furnish stone to the satisfaction of the Superintendent and is [ready to go to work whenever the matter is settled as to the meaning of “imli stone.” However this may be the Casparis Co. are a third party in this deal, Mr. Smith is the contractor and furnished the bond, and it is to him that we look for the bonding of the road. The Commissoners will very likely take some action on the matter at their regular session next week, and we trust the matter can be adjudicated outside of court aud work commenced at once, but there is no chance whatever of the “screenings” they commenced this work with ever being accepted as “inch rock” by either Superintend ent or taxpapers.
