Charles C. Vogt, local manager for the American Tobacco Company, committed suicide at Louisville, Ivy. 11l health was the cause. Five men were killed by an explosion in the plant of the Sinnemahoning Powder Manufacturing Company at Sinnemnlioniug, Pa. Alleging misapplication of funds, former State Senator F. W. Dallinger of Cambridge, who is receiver for the American Birth Insurance Company, brought equity action in the Superior Court in Boston against the officers of the company. The government and the railroads are taking steps to avert a fuel famine in the West and Northwest next winter, by laying in a large .supply of coal at an early date.
