Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 39, Number 82, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 18 June 1907 — Both Carry Keys. [ARTICLE]
Both Carry Keys.
E. C. Crider, ex county superintended of schools, and Brail ard G. Hooker, who was recently elected to that position, are both claiming the effice and are still contending for their rights. Neither occupied the office yesterday, but both sat in the corridor of the court house to see that the other did not enter the office. There are two locks on the door and each man carries a key. The key carried by Mr. Crider will not fit the lock that was put on the door by Mr. Hooker, and the key carried by Mr. Hooker will not fit the other lock. Mr. Crider claims that Mr. Hooker is not eligible, and the latter claims that he is entitled to the position because he was elected by the trustees of Tippecanoe county. Neither man has resorted to legal process to establish his right to the office. Lafayette Journal.
