CHANCE FOR JUVENILE BAND

Apropos to The Republican’s recent suggestions relating to the reorganization of the baud or to the brganiza ion of a new one. many persons have taken occasion to favorably comment on the proposition and it is quite certain that if some one will take the matter up and call a meeting of those who can play or are willing to learn, that a band can be started. Perjiaps the best prospect would be for the starting of a juvenile band, composed ot boys from 11 to 17 or 18 years of age, and we are in possession of information that makes us believe this could be accomplished at a very reasonable cost. If parents who desire to give their boys lessons on band instruments will get together they can be told of a plan to start off a juvenile organization under com* petent instructorship, and at a very low cost. It has been proposed by this paper and the proposition has met very cheerful response both at home and with our former residents all over the country to have a big home coming event here this fall, probably either in August or September, and to invite all the one-time residents of Jasper conn ty to return and spend a week at the old home. It wi Ibe the aim to make the week a pleasant one for all, and to have attractions that will bring people here from all parts of the county as well as to try to gather all our friends from distant points in to meet the old neighbors they had not seen lor years before. This j uvenile band can be guaranteed by this ininstructor to be ready for business for that occasion, and to make music, not noise, Or at least this is the claim of the man who offers to instruct them and he says he is willing to place money in the bank to back up his claim. This will at least guarantee a good band so? next year and for years to come and it is to be hoped that some one will take the matter up and if it meets approval, the in structor who makes the offer will meet boys and their parents here next Monday evening.
