St. Joe Defeats Lowell At Ball.
“Send our new sweaters and base ball suits to Rensselaer C. O. D,” wrote Manager Lou Woods of the Lowell base ball team to Chicago tailors who made their clothes, and Lou was right on the spot with SB9 to liquidate. “Our team is a little the best in the state,” said Lou, “and when we get thru with St. Joe, Oh, pshaw it isn’t worth while talking about.” A large crowd went out from town to see the game, including many of the Lowell manager’s personal friends. It looked like he knew what he was talking about too for quite a while, for Lowell scored 2 runs in the first and 3 more in the second inning. At the end ot the seventh the score stood, Lowell 8, St. Joe 2. In the eighth the college boys got one score and in the ninth the left hand imported pitcher for the visitors went into the air, allowing two bases on balls, hitting one man and the catcher having one passed ball. In addition to this the college boys seemed to find their batting lamps and they secured four hits. Six men succeeded in crossing the plate, and and the final score wae St Joe 9; Lowell 8. “Tough luck,” quoth Lou. ■ ■ - -■ ■— . • Buy the “Pre Shrunk” suits, which are guaranteed not to shrink nor lose their shape.
