“DICK” COBLE VINDICATED.
Delphi Conncilman Declared Innocent Of The Charge Preferred By The Town Marshal. The trial of Richard Coble, the Delphi city councilman, who was arrested more tban a week ago by Logansport officers and returned to Delphi, on the charge of associating with a woman of bad character, came up Friday in the Delphi council chamber, but there was such a large crowd of persons who wanted to see the case tried that adjournment was taken to the court room. The case was tried before Mayor Cochran, and the State so utterly failed to make any kind of a case that would in any way stigmatize the name of the Councilman that the Mayor after listening to the wrangle of the attorneys for awhile dismissed the case and altogether vindicated Coble. The effort to show that there was an organized effort on the part of saloon keepers to disgrace Coble did not prove effective, and it was quite evident that Hubbard, the marshal, was altogether to blame for the false arrest. It is thought the Mayor will demand the marshal’s resignation.
