Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 39, Number 80, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 11 June 1907 — Mail to Pleasant Grove as Before. [ARTICLE]
Mail to Pleasant Grove as Before.
Contract mail carrier Fox has received an order from the P. O. Department at Washington that cancels the order previously issued for the mail to leave Pleasant Grove in the morning and return there in the evening. This plan would have been very unsatisfactory to patrons and carrier alike and a petition asking that the mail be started from Rensselaer in the morning as heretofore was signed by practically every patron and honored by the Department. The schedule set out by the Department follows: Leave Rensselaer, 8:00 a. m. Arrive Pleasant Grove, 11:80 a. m. Leave Pleasant Grove, 11:40 a. m. Arrive Rensselaer, 2:40 p. m. “Comrad” Fox will begin carrying this mail on July Ist and will carry part of the mails between the depot and the post-office, for which he holds the contract. The other mails will under his direction be carried by Abel Grant the express carrier drayman.
