This Has the flight Ring.
Oxford Tribune: . % The Lafayette dailies and all press dispatches emanating from that city dwell on the statement that the Republican editors of the Tenth Indiana district at their meeting in Lafayette last Friday evening, “unanimously andenthusiastically” endorsed Charles W. Fairbands for the presidency. This statement is misleading and untrue. It lowers the dignity of the press and confirms the determined and organized efforts of the Fairbanks machine to carry its point. Mr. Robertson, of the Fowler Republican protested against this resolution, and the editor of The Tribune stated plainly before the resolution' was railroaded thru that he would not be bound by the action of the others. The editor of the Tribune has no grievance against Mr. Fairbanks, but holds that his relations with the trusts make him an unsafe candidate to put before the. people. This paper wants the next president to be one who will carry out the reforms inaugurated by Theodore Roosevelt. When this becomes inconsistent we have done.
