Hammond, Ind,, April 30. Standing guard for hours with a loaded shotgun at the side of a country road John Ewing, of Black Oak, waited for a big black touring car which had caused his horse to run away earlier in the day as he was returning from church with his wife and daughter. Both women were hurt and the carriage was wrecked. When the carj returned Ewing demanded and received $75 from the chauffeur, who said he was from Chicago.
