Synopsis of New Game Law.
A full text of game laws will be out about the first of July and a copy may be obtained then by remitting two cents to Z. T. Sweeney, Commissioner ot Fisheries and Game. Prohibits possession of quails trom January Ist to November 10, applicable to incorporated storage companies as well as individuals. Cuts bag limit on quails and ducks to fifteen per day. Any person having hunted three days or more consecutively may a total of forty-five of either, killed bj bimseli during Buch hunt. Provides open season for water fowls from September Ist to following April Ist. Prohibits dove shooting at al times. Open season on squirrels, July 1 to October Ist. Hays bill provides closed season on squirrels, Novem ber Ist to following July Ist, and Section 608 of the law of 1905 makes it unlawful to hunt any kind of game from October Ist to Novem ber 10th. The two laws together make 4 open season on squirrels from July Ist to October Ist. Makes open season for woodcock Jaly Ist to October lst, and November Ist. Any resident land owner may hunt his own land anywhere in the a ate without license, and his children living with him, also h s tenants are given similar privilege. But if he or they hunt anywhere in the state except on his own laud, license must be secured, that license being obtained of the clerk of the county in which applicant resides, except in marion conntv—3ueh license being obtained at the commissioner's office in the State ouse in Marion Such license c *ts one dollar, and the com mis gioner of fisheries and game must spend one third of all such liceme m >ney in buying live quails aud other species of game for distribu tion thruout the state for the pur pose of restocking the state with sich live game. Allows hook and line ashiug the year around in all the waters of the state except in Bass Lake, it being unlawful to fish thru the ice in that lake. The restrictions provided for in section 616 of Acts of 1905, relative to fishing thru the ice, are still in force.
Sale of game fish caught in this state is prohibited, and proof of sale or offer of sale of any suca fish is prima facie evidence that such fish were caught in this state. None but others of the fish and game commissioner may confiscate nets, seines, etc., and a conviction for possession or use of such nets, etc., must be made before any fee can be collected for seizing or destroying Btme.
