The Consulting Engineer Here.

Jn pursuance of the plan an nonneed last week, President Infield of the Lifayette & Chicago Traction Railroad Company, is now going over the line with the consulting engineer of one ot Chicago’s largest financial companies, with a view to their furnishing the capital to build the road, if the business prospects seem sufficiently promising to the engineer. Thoro exami nations of the different possible routes thru Lake county were made and Wednesday the party entered Jasper county, stopping over night at DeMotte. Both lines thru Lake county showed np well for business prospects namely the original line thru Crown Point, and the alternative line by the way of Lowell and Cedar Lake. The prospect of the line cutting out Crown Point entirely, on account of their refusing a franchise over the most convenient street, seems to have wakened some of the inhabitants of that easy going town, and they got very bnsy in deed in showing this party the ad vantages of a line thru that place. The' party arrived here at 11:30 and after dinner Mr. Heck, the engineer, spent several hours talking with business and professional men, after which they left for Remington. Mr. Heck asks the questions and lets the other men do the talking, but so far as can be surmised he seems migh'y well impressed with bhe prospects of tne route.
