Thayer vs Halligan Case Dismissed.

The venae case from this county of Thayer vs Halligan, was tried aud argued iu Kentland this week, but after it had been given to the jury Wednesday evening, was dismissed by the plaintiff, but “with out prejudice” which means that the right is left to bring a new suit. Kentland Enterprise says of the case: Ope of the many cases venued to this court from Jasper county was called before Special Judge Frank Davis Tuesday, aud was given to the jury last evening. The action was brought by Stephen Vv. Thayer against Patrick Halligan and others and was a suit on bond. It is an offahot of the mysterious disappear anceofa herd of cattle from one of the large ranehes iu Jasper eoun ty several years ago The cattle were mortgaged aud cross mortgaged io a half dozen different par ties, and that many suite have followed. The present case has had one airing at Rensselaer and one at Monticello before being brought to Kentland. Its complications are thickening as time progresses. It has taken four good lawyers two days to explain the case to the jury —or as much of the case as they bad mastered, none claiming that they had got to the bottom of the facts —and the was lefi to work oiit a verdict
