A FIRE SUNDAY NIGHT.
The fire alarm sounded about 8:30 . o’clock Sunday night, the cause being another barn on fire. This time it was a small barn on George Gorham’s residence property, north of the railroad. Considerable delay was experienced in telephone communications, but as soon as the alarm sounded Excellent time was made by the fire cjmpany, considering the long distance of the run,' but the barn was too far gone to sive and it was a total loss. An extra fine jersey cow was lost in the barn and also some pigs and chickens. Mr. G rham is a onearmed man, and has had much Hard hick, and the fire was a serious loss especially as-the cow 'as of great assis'aucein helping support the family. The loss was ab >utslso. of which half was covered by insurance. A movement was started among crowd at the fire to raise a fund to help recoup the loss, and sls, was contributed then. This morning trre good work was resumed, and quite a liberal sum was raised for the purpose. The origin of the fire is not known. It was at first generally reported that Mr. Gorham’s b< y had been smokiDg in the barn that evening, but this was afterwards denied and the statement made that ,tbe boy had not been near the barn for several hours before the fire.
