For Rural Teachers.

At the time of the meeting of the County Superintendents’ Association in Indianapolis the subject of providing a special course of instructionlfor rural school teachers was thought of, and resolutions were adopted recommending that Purdue University established a course to fill the requirements. It was proposed that the teacheis in rural districts be given opportunity for obtaining instruction in tl e studies of agriculture, domestic science, nature study and perhaps some other subjects that will be useful to the teachers in the rural districts. The following plan was agreed upon: That every rural teacher of Indiana be invited to participate in the special course which will include the study of the following subjects: dairying, farm animals, farm crops, horticulture, soil gardening, nature study and plant liie, animal life, hygiene of the home and school and domestic science. The various subjects will be taught by means of lectures and will be supplemented by labratory work and demonstration. Great stress will be laid on the subject of household science, which will inelude cooking and home organiza tion. A number of field trips will be made in connection with the nature study.
