Death of Mrs. Angeline Smoot.
Mrs. Angeline Smoot, widow of Warner~G. “Smooth “died: Monday evening, March 25th, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allen Catt, on south Rensselaer street, Her sickness was mostly the general failure of old age, and has been several times mentioned since her arrival here last month from her home at Greenfield this state, accompanied by her other daughter, Mrs. John W, Ulrey, of Washington, D. C., formerly of Brook. Her age was a little more than 84 years. Besides the two daughters just mentioned, she leaves one son, Ben; Smoot who lives in Greenfield. Sh’ and her husband were residents of Rensselaer for quite a long time at an early day, and he w i town marshal here fora time. They afterwards moved to Newton county, where they lived mary years in the vicinity of Brook, leaving there about 12 years ago and going~ to Hancock county, which had been their still earlier home. Mr. Smoot died there about seven years ago. Brief funeral services were held at the Christian church at one o’clock Tuesday p. m., after which she was taken back to Greenfield on the two o’clock train, for burial by the side of her husband. The friends accompanying were Mrs. Ulrey and her son Morton Ulrey. Mrs. Catt the other daughter, is still confined to her bed by sickness, nor has Mr. Catt sufficiently recovered from his sickness to be able to take the journey.
