CROWN POINT WILL LOSE THE LINE
The engineer repn seating the capitalists who are expected to finance the proposed electric railroad thru our city, it his report is favorable, will start Monday, to go over the line with Mr. Infield. It his just been learned that Crown Point did not grant the franchise as expected, not because of any objections to the terms of the same but because of lack of agreement of the town as to the street. One of two things will happen. Either they will cross the Pan Handle at Hebron and the Erie at some point east of Crown Point; or else ar- « rangements will be made to cut across by Virgie and DeMotte to Lowell and Cedar Lake and north to Hammond. President Infield stys the buuness at Crown Point does not show to I e two per cent of rhe business of *he whole line. The summer busine«s at Cedar Lake if much more than the entire business at Crown Point. There are powerful influences being brought to bear to swing the line by the lake and there is little doubt but that this route will be favorably reported by the engineer. W han the men talk about giving as much as SIO,OOO to get the line there will be something doing.
