Representative Meeker Has A Real Estate Bill.
Indianapolis Star: “A bill which he believes will check the unceasing stream of bills to correct defect in the Indiana real estate and title laws, is that of Bepresentative Curtis D, Meeker of Monticello, providing for the creation of a commission to crinpile, revise and amend the laws on title of real estate, recording, abstracting and registering of titles and all laws by which real estate is conveyed. Two members of a commission, at $4,000 a year each would be appointed by thfe Governor to serve until the next General Assembly. They would be directed to investigate the laws of other State governments with a view to providing Indiana a better system. If practicable, the commission may recommend the adoption of the Torrens system of registering, recording and preserving reoords. The commission is to prepare bills for introduction at the next session of the Legislature ” ‘
