Love’s Path Was Rather Rough.
There ailived here on the early train from the south Thursday mornipg Mrs. Emma Monroe, an attractive looking little woman, accompanied by a four year old boy, and she soon made known that she had come to meet and marty Ed Pattee, son of John Pattee of near .Gifford. She engaged a livery rig as soon as possible and drove out the whole 15 miles in the blinding snovy storm, only to find when she got there that the young man had also made an early start to met her. He came by another route however and they did not meet, and she returned to town. Here she waited in the depot until 11:30 when Mr. Pattee arrived, and they then called the bus and repaired to the Nowels House. Their next regular station was the clerk’s ofllee at the eourt house r which they reached about 3.30 p. m., or still some hours behind schedule time.
