Rensselaer Semi-Weekly Republican, Volume 39, Number 41, Rensselaer, Jasper County, 25 January 1907 — Squire Bussell Downs Another Wolf. [ARTICLE]
Squire Bussell Downs Another Wolf.
Squire Charley Bussell, of Hanging Grove, turned loose his deadly rifle on another old wolf, Tuesday night, in the big McAffee pasture, and downed it at 500 yard distance, tho it took five shots to do it. This time it was a female and stopped just in time to interfere with her arrangements to turn loose a big bunch of juvenile wolves. Charley says there will be slim picking for Thanksgiving turkeys and pigs this year because there are more old wolves in that neighborhood now than at any time for thirty years. It looks like the people out that way do not take sufficient interest in killing them. If it was not for Squire Bussell they would pretty nearly take the whole township.
