KINGSTON AND ENVIRONS.
The map shows In Kingston the location of the Myrtle Bank hotel and parish church, the destruction of which figures prominently in reports of the earthquake and fire; outside the city proper, the race course, now one of the camps of the homeless, and the Up Park military camp, where the greatest loss of life in a single building occurred, forty patients in the hospital being killed in the destruction of that building. On the peninsula in the lower part of the map may be seen the location of Port Royal, destroyed by earthquake and flood two centuries ago and now again under At Fort Charles, near Port Royal, a battery sank inlo the sea with the first heavy shock, carrying with it a gunner. Dividing Kingston and Fort Royal is the channel, where new bottom formations formed by the earth quake present • danger to relief ships entering the port.
