Obituary.
Mrs. Mary (McMeeken) Burns was born Feb. 29, 1832 in the in the Parish Comonell, Ayrshire, Scotland, Died at DeMotte, Jasper County, Indiana, Jan. 17, 1907, aged 74 years, 10 months and 17 days. When a girl at the age of 17 she joined the Old School Presbyterian church at Comonell. Was married to Archibald Burns, Oct. 22, 1851, who survive her. To them 10 children were born, James H. Arch, Robert H. Thomas M., Isibell, Alexander, Mary A., Elizabeth, William, and Hugh. All living except Mary A., she having died in May 1902. She with her husband arrived in this country in Juue 1857 direct from Scotland. They immediately settled near Fundy, Fulton Co., New York State where they lived for 7 years, at the end of which me they moved to Tamarack, iWill Co., 111. In the fall of 1875 they moved to Goodland, Ind from from there to Alexandria, Neb., in 1880. Upon returning east they located at DeMotte, Jasper Co., Ind in the fall of 1883, which place has ever since been her home.
