Monticello Journal: Manager Ellis, of Rensselaer Surely must have sought to perpetrate a joke on Monticello when hS recommended the “Curse of Idleness” company to Manager Johnson. The Rensselaer Republican has a much different story to tell. It feels that a dose of ancient hen fruit is coming to the aggregation. Mr. W. Willie Hobo, Esq., of most anj place, was a guest of the city of Rensselaer, last.night, having been eflfcertaiued iu a ground floor suite of ro. ms at the Hotel De O’Connor Annex, at the city’s expeuse. Some of the indictments- were held good Wednesday and some dismissed, The trial is set for next Wonday, but it is understood* that the defense will ask for more time to get ready. Clerk Warner’s statistical .report just made up shows that there were 110 marriage licenses issued in this county in 1906. This is andmerease of 12 ever 1905, when the »umber was 98? There were eight l divorces grante&dn the county during the year aed'seven in 1905. Tbis is at the rate-of ODe divorce to -14 marriages, from which it does-* not appear that the so calledi “divorce evil” is-increasing to any, alarming extent:» this peaceful region. Rodney Pearl, the noted.: deputy sheriff and detective of Benton whose supposed fatal shooting by a man named Moore was mentioned, was still alive at last accounts and considerable hopes felt, that he would eventually recover- Mooie’s wife is also doing well and has good chances for recovery. Moore himself is worse off of any from the cutting, shooting and burning he gave himself. D*. H. W. Fox and the young
man, Johantgea, the two. parties arrested iu Chicago far supposed complicity ic. the death, of Emily has previously been mentioned, were both released Tuesday* there being no evidence to warrant holding them. Some other doctor who had the case earher seems to have been the responsible, while there seems nothing iu Johantgen’s conduct towards the young woman that would justify charging him with being responsible far her death. Cut this out and take it to B. F. Fendig’s drug store-and get a free sample of Chamberlain’s Stomach and Liver Tablets. Taese tablets are far superior to pills, being easier to take and more pleasant in effect. They correct disorders Oi the stomach* liver aud bowels.
