Why Not Breed Donkeys?
In this country a donkey costs SIOO. If their breeding were undertaken systematically one could be bought for $5 or 810. London is full of donkeys. The costers use them. Every tiny huckster cart is drawn by a tiny gray donkey. The animals are bred in Ireland and in Wales, and it is possible to buy little ones for $4, $5. $7 and so on up to SIOO or more for the fancy grades. The donkey is docile, intelligent, industrious, moral. He never runs away. He never loses , his temiior. He is an ideal pot for children, and. if he were bred here, lie would be within the rehch of nearly all. Think hmv nice it would be if you could do here what you can do in England—give a child a nice little donkey that only costs $5.
