Death of Major McEwen.

J. W. McEwen. of tho copy of the Lewiston, Penn., Daily Sentinel, of Dec. 31, giving the news of the death, near that city, on Dec 29th of his brother, Major Wm. T. McEwen, of whom his fiiends hear have heard him speak so frequently. He had quite a military history having served five years in the regular army before the civil war, in services on the frontier against the Indians. At the beginning of the civil war he was one of the fi.st to enlist and served until he got so many wounds that he was discharged for total disability, in October, 1863. His grandfather was on the staff of Gen, Arnold during the celebrated invasion of Canada, in the Revolutionary war. Major McEwen was in his 73rd year when he died.
