Complimenting A Priest.
Father Henneberger left Fowler last week to assume charge of a parish at Tipton, Indiana. A meeting of representative citizens of Fowler was held at Frazer & Isham’s law office at which resolutions were drafted and adopted highly complimentary to the departing priest. Among other things the resolutions say: “When the Rev. Anthony Henneberger came into this neighborhood the church membership was small and the Catholic church building, while the largest in town, was of very limited capacity. The town at that time contained but three churches, one school, nine saloons and many gambling houses.
“The little frame Catholic church has been abandoned as a church and in its stead there has been erected by the congregation under the leadership of the Rev. Henneberger a massive structure of brick aud stone, which is not only an ornament to our town, but a monument to his energy and executive ability. The church membership has grown under the wise ministration of Father Henneberger so that at this time the pews are at a premium. \~r~r “During the years Father Henneberger was here a long and bitter fight with the saloon evil was waged. It was not until his infloenoe was felt that victory was certain. To film the credit should be given of joining the temperance forees in the proper manner apd at the right time to turn the tide of battle from defeat” to victory.” On the committee that prepared the resolutions were Judge James T. Sanderson and Postmaster Robert L- Oox. Anything in duck, den ham, corduroy or < leather reveraable work coats we'can make prices be low any competition.
