Beat Chalmers In Checker Contest.

A quintette of checker players representing Rensselaer were entertained at Chalmers, Tuesday eveu of this week, in a ehecker match, and in a series of 50 games, suceerl - ed in winning 22 and drawing 9, while Chalmers won 19. Each player played two games with each of the five men of the team, with the following results: E. M. Thomas won 7, 10-t I,J drew 2; J. F. McFarland wi n 4, lost 4, drew 2; Abe Halleck won. 4, lost 4, drew 2; G. H. Healey won 4, last 5, drew 1; Samuel Stevens won 3, loit 5, drew 2. The Chalmers team was composel of Joseph and John Ranb, John Smith, Dr. Spangler and Morga tt Burgett. * Chalmers will play a return match here.
