The Democratic bretheru here are not falling xirer ea ch other in their zeal to attend the Jackson Day exercises at Lafayette, today. Peter Hordeman, Eli Gerber and N. Littlefield are all so far heard Oj who have gone or going. Most of them, like Brother Babcock of the Democrat, are too busy, making mouey these prosperous Republican times to be willing to spare the time to attend. -
About The Game Law.
The fact does not seem to be generally known that there is a section of the game law passed two years ago by which the punishment for hunting on Sunday is from *1 to SSO fine uuder section 606 of the 1905 acts, and uuder section 626 of the same acts ifyou plead guilty, a fine of *2O must be asses- ' for the benefit of the state gam *ardeu. Note the point ifyou "plc.al guilty” tbejustice of the peace has no option. Ifyou have a trial the jury may only fine you sl. It is something of an ethical question as to who and what the present game laws are for. It has been charged that this Sunday clause was put iu to protect the j game from being killed by the poor ] people who work, and to keep it for the rich and professional hunters. Anyway there were no hitches' iu the way the machine worked; when Lee Martin, deputy game wardeD, caught George Sheelz, Peteo Xitel)el, Jr., Henry Gerlacb. j Lon Weddle aud Elmer Campbell hunting last Sunday, and it cost ‘them over *3O each in Squiie Stevenson’s court Monday.—Moral —Don't hunt on Sunday.—Fowler Review.

Even Sugar Will Be Changed
It is said that we will soon evtn notice a change ia the color of- the ! sugar, that is in the white grades. > The pure food law will do awaj with the bleeehing process in whitc sugars, which consists mainly o£. mixing indigo with the sugar. If* a shbrt time you will see nothing' but light brown sugar on the majii ket, and all granulated sugars wjlj be of that color. Health has been regarded above beauty in the fram j iug of the pure food law. In many other things like Changes will be ; made, i The consumer should nov j carefully watch w hat lie buys aim | • let out tie adulterated article. . A r | small demand would soon drive it | from the market. Notice the can or package that you buy, and if the j articles are adulterated, you wifi find it on the wrapper—in some cases in the very smallest print, -and in other cases devious ways] have been used to deceive the purchaser and yet remain within the pale of the law. While ugome manufacturers claim that the adulterated article is just as good as the pure, that statement can be taken with a good many grains of salt ft is sale,to sayJthat the adult era* tions would not he used if lhe\ were not inferior to the genuine at tide, and such elaborate methods taken to hide the fact.
