A Youthful Bride.
Mr. Alvin T. 'Blackman and Miss Etta Laura Martin were married by Squire Schuyler C. Irwin, at his office, about 10 o’clock, this Wednesday morning, Nov. 28th, 1906. The groom is 24 years old, lives at Buffalo, White county, and is a carpenter by occupation. His bi ide is the daughter of Oscar Martin, and lives in the southeast part of Hanging Grove township, ihis county. She is quite young in fact, and still younger in appearance and when they made their ap plication for a license she stated her age as 14 years, which would have debarred her from marrying. Her mother, Mrs. Lovina Martin, was with her, however, and she gave the date of her birth as May 18, 1890, which would make her over 16 yeais old and as the mother would naturally have a more distinct remembrance of the occasion than the daughter, her figures were accepted and the license was issued. The mother was the only person accompanying the bridal couple at the wedding.
