THE CITY COUNCIL.
The council was all present except McColly who is in poor health. Fire Chief Montgomery reported ten membeis present at the Woodworth fire, last Friday night. They were allowed S 3 each. "John Morgan, a spectator, who was called on to act ; was allowed $2. A resolution was passed that hereafter every fireman present at ai alarm, is to be allowed at least sl, whether any work is needed < r not, and more than $$ when the time spent and amount of work done justifies it. The Mayor was authorized to buy iron beams and other material for a side walk bridge o er Makem S -If sewer on the east side of Front St. The boiler insurance at the power house was readjusted so as to cover the new boiler, as well as the two old ones. The Mayor announced that he hul re appointed vV. S. Parks as Marshal for another year and H L. Gamble as Engineer. The Council men unanimously, re elected G. A. Williams as city attorney. ■, The official bonds of Clerk, Marshal and Engineer were all fix ed at 1500 each, and the Treasurer’s at $20,000. The engineer was instructed to locate the proper lines of Bunkum Road, inside the city limits, the same being the road which enters the city from the west, at Weston cemetery. The records of the original route of the road, if there ever were aDy, seem to have l<sng been lost, and to locate it now will be a very difficult matter. The sidewalk on the west side of Division street, along the Ham mond half block, was reported properly completed and was accepted by the Council. A resolution lor the walk on the sooth side of Harrison street, along the J. W. McEwen property, was adopted.
