Harvest Picnic At Kniman.

The Farmers’ harvest picnic at Kniman, last Saturday, given for the benefit ot the Catholic chur< h of that place, was quite a success, considering the very hot and more or less rainy weather. The contest for Harvest Queen, between Misses Ott, Theiss and Jungles, was one of the most inter esting features, and was won by Miss Anna Ott, with the others not far behind her. The proceeds’ of this contest were some $123. A good ball game between the Oilfield and the Kniman teams, was won by the oily fellows, who were too slick for the Knimans, by a score of 8 to 5. A 100 yard foot race, with three contestants, was won by Reno Rouse. The music w s furnished by a Kid Band, from, North Judson. The members are veritable ‘ kids” their ages probably not averaging over ten years, but they made good music. Rev. George Heldmann gave an address in his usual eloquent and able manner. The meals served by the ladies of the church were' also a popular and profitable feature of the day. In the way of decorated wagons, it was conceded by all that Joe Theiss bad them all out-classed. Wanted, at once, one or more experienced clerks and several beginners, at Hansford’s Racket Store.
