UNCLE RUSSELL SAGE IS DEAD.

Uncle Russell Sage died Sunday at his summer home at Lawrence, Long Island, aged 90 years and worth 90 millions. He expected to make both figures an even hundred before he quit, but he missed it a few. At least he did in point of years, but according to some estimates, in point of millions, he had already reached, the hundred mark. Sage was the great father of all loan sharks, and the most penurious and uncharitable of all our very wealthy men. His will has not yet been made public, but hints are given to the effect that most of it has been willed to benevolent purposes. But there is nothing sure to be said about his wealth, either as to amount or disposal, except that he can’t take any of it away with him. He leaves no children, and it is doubtful if he leaves any relatives of closer relationship than Elizur Sage, who now lives *on a small rented farm in Union township, this county. He is a very poor man and taxed for about as many dollars as Uncle Russ had millions, namely SLIS. His age is 57 years. Life with him has been one long battle with poverty and sickness and hardship, both during his residence in this county and at his former home in Will county, 111. The most Uncle Russ ever did for him. so far as we can learn, was to lend him a little money, well secured by mortgages, and which had to be paid back with full interest, the same as his loans to anybody else. The old man may make his nephew a millionair, or he may not leave him ten cents.
