Bedford Slander Case Ended.
The trial of the slander case of Simpson B. Lowe vs A. C. Voris, both prominent men of Bedford, ended with a verdict for the defendant. Lowe was the big man of Bedford puolic sentiment settled on there as the prominent man wanted to lay the Sarah Schafer murder to, and Yoris was one of those who made remarks connecting Lowe with the case, and Lowe brought the suit for vindication. The jury, while they found there w@s not sufficient cause of action against Voris, all signed a statement that they did not believe Lpwe was in any manner connected with the murder, and Judge Wiley also signed this statement; and thus Lowe was pretty well vindicated, anyhow. The people down there became possessed with the idea that Miss Schafer had been murdered at the instance of some man of high position because she was thought to have knowledge oi some scandalous moral transgressions on his part Such a motive for the murder would of course, be possible, but the chances are 100 times greater that she was attacked by some lustful and degenerate brute, and killed daring the struggle, and that was just what the circumstances indicated in her case, and more than that there was 60 strong a case made out against the man McDonald, who was tried, that SO clear headed a man as Judge Wilson, who presided, was firmly convinced of his guilt.
