The Regulars Are Coming Nearer.

From Thursday’s Dally: * . -- The ten companies of regulars from Forts Sheridan and Brady, camped last night on the banks of the Calumet river,, southeast ol Hammond. They seem to be making schedule time and if they march on Sundays, which we understand they wijl, they will reach their camping ground in this vicinity about noon next Sunday. Where their camp will be is a matter probably not yet decided, and it may not be within several miles of town, as the line of march heretofore published was only conditional and the places mentioned as camp ing places were only intended to be approximate. Thus Crown Point was one of these places, which was to be reached tonight, yet today’s Chicago papers state they will ! camp about four miles west of ! Crown Point, which would bring j them in the vicinity of the north end of Cedar Lake. By tonight they will be some place in the vicinity of Orchard jrove, in Lake county, some miles north of the Kankakee river. Friday night will be their first camp in JaSper county, and Kniman was mentioned as the conditional point; but whether it is very near there or not, will depend upon which point they cross the Kankakee river at. That they will entirely miss Rensselaer, as they did Crown Point, is not at all likely, if they are at all particular in picking the best and most direct roads. If they do come here and make it a camping place, it is likely that the stock farm grounds will seem the most convenient and fit ting,plrco fer (heir camp, though the ball park would also be a good ■q place. • '- _ : : —’ . ■ ■
