Cut Down Those Weeds.
Attention is called just at this time to the fact that along many of the highways of the county weeds have taken possession of the way between the roadbed and adjoining fences. The law provides that weeds must be cut along all property adjoining'public highways during July or August, but it is seldom they are cut before the last of August, so that they are allowed to ripen and the seeds scatter before they are cut If they were ent be fore maturity, within a few years the’e would not be any weeds along the public highways.
Some farmers watch this matter very closely and cut the weeds before they are ripe, but in many cases this is neglected, owing to the pressure of other work, and the weeds are not cut before the last of August. It is said that an effort will be made at the next session of the legislature to have the law changed so that it will require the weeds to be cut twice during the summer, once before the first of July and again before the first of September.
