THE CITY COUNCIL.
A petition signed by B. Forsythe and C. W. Hanley was presented asking for the improvement of Washington, Division and Main streets. The improvement to start at the intersection of Washington and Cullen streets at the Makeever House and extend to the railroad. On Division and Main, the proposition is for a4O foot street, with a cement curb, and for the two blocks on Washington street the talk is of a full width street. The attorney was directed to prepare a resolution for consideration at the next session., j A walk was ordered along Jackson street, in front of C. B. Steward’s property. Also along the south side of block 32, or along what is historically known as Smoky Row, on Vine street. Amelia street was ordered narrowed, as previously petitioned for byE. V. Ransfordand others, and a small assessment was levied for benefits on the property owners. Namely $2 per lot ou Mrs. Parker, J. M. Wasson, A. Leopold, Chris Sack, J. H. Perkins and E. V. Ransford. On Mrs. Mary Lowe, sl. All the parties get a ten foot strip of land added to their lots, which makes a mighty good investment for them. The city engine house and hose wagon were re insured in R. D. Thompson’s agency.
