Mrs. Conrad An Able Politician.

Mrs. Jennie M. Conrad, Newton county's brilliant business and literary woman, was a leading feature in the Republican county convention at Kentland Tuesday. She made a rattling good speech which was not only an excellent one from a political point of view, as she is a very earnest Republican, but it was .* powerful and evidently very effect .e plea for harmony and the buryi g of the hatchet in Newton county Republican politics. And it s<ems effectually buried. The ticket nominated was Reuben Hess for clerk, Frank M. Coovert for ireasuier, Henry E. Stoner for sheriff, W in. H. Boyle for recorder, J. Z. Jobuson for assessor, Orville Jenkins for surveyor and Ben Leopold, ou? own Ben, for coroner. This convention, by the way, whs held at Kentland, and was the first Republican convention ever held there, w hich in itself is a strong indication that the party troubles in New. on have cleared away.
