Government labels guaranteeing that the products; are healthful, clc.an an 4ln - every respect fit for food are required for interstate commerce and, in addition to this label, a certificate for f orvign commerce. The substitute passed the committee by the close 'vote of 9 to 7 and a minority report favoring t l> e amended Beveridge provision will be submitted. The most stubborn contest in committee ■was over the question of payment of the cost of inspection. Henry (Conn.), Haugen (Iowa) and Davis (Minn,), Republicans. and Lamb (Va.)> Bowie (Ala.) and Candler (Miss,), Demounts, voted to impose the cost upon the pi ‘kers. Cromer (Ind.) did not vote, ard the other members, including Chairman Wadsworth and William Loriincr. voted to put the cost on the government.
