The Republican County convention of Jasper county met Monday March 12th, at the opera house, as per call. And it was about the most harmonious aud unexciting county convention on record. Conn ty Chairman Halleck called the convention to order, and County Secretary Leopold read the official call. Louis H. Hamilton, ofßensselaer was unanimously elected chairman of the convention, and Mose Leopold, secretary. Ou motion it was ordered that the delegates present cast the full vote of the township. For Cierk of the circuit court, Marion township presented the name of Charles C. Warner, the present incumbent, who was nominated by r "Reclamation, by unanimous vote. For County Auditor, James N. Leatherman, of Marion, the present incumbent, was also renominated by acclamation. For County Treasurer, only one' name was proposed, Jesse D. Allman, of Carpenter, and he too was nominated by acclamation. For County Sheriff John O’Connor, of Walker, the present incumbent, was renominated by acclama tion. For County Coroner, W. j. Wright, of Marion, was renominated, by acclamation. ... Foi County Assessor, the names of Q. Lewis, of Barkley, and John F. Bruner, of Marion, were
proposed, and the convention prepared for their first ballot. Which resu 1 ted as follows: Lewis 82 votes. Bruner 56 votes. Mr. Lewis was declared the nominee of the convention. Oa motion of Mr. Bruner the nomination was made unanimous. For Commissioner from the Second Commissioners’ district Fredrick Waymire, of Barkley, the present incumbent, and Stephen T. Cjmer, of Union, were proposed. The ballot: Waymire 89 votes. Comer 49 votes. Mr. Way mire was declared nom in ited. For Commissioner from the Third District, C. T. Denham, of Carpenter was renominated, j by acclamation. ; For County Surveyor, Myrt B. Price, of Carpenter present incumbent, was j enominated by acclamation.
