Thirty-Seven Years Ago. RENSSELAER UNION NOV. 19 and 26, 1868
The election was over but politics were still red hot and still heating in the Union. Two inches of snow had fallen, the weather was Alaskian and there wasn’t a stick of wood in the print shop. Charles Platt was out and Jack Yeoman was in the sheriff’s office. Heidel berger & Leopold advertised they were selling al! their goods at cost. Sounds like something we have heard several times since. Eh Uncle Alx ? Francis M. Parker and Mahala J. Walker were married on the 22nd by Elder D. T. Halstead. AU « ere of Jasper county, and all are of Jasper county still. Our old much-advertising friend ot the Banner day s, J. M. Troxell, was heard from once more. He was farming then and advertised 2 big black legged Southdown muley bucks that had strayed away. He offered a liberal reward for their recovery. Hou. Schuyler Colfax had been married to Miss Nellie Wade of Andover, Ohio, “last Wednesday.”
